This example -- using monthly weight records on beef calves -- illustrates more complicated random regression analyses than Example 3, namely
a model with an additional random effect, fitting quadratic B-splines (rather than Legendre polynomials) as basis functions, and
how to obtain reduced rank estimates.

  * **A** : full rank analysis

  * **A1**: like A, but supplying basis functions as user defined

  * **B** : reduced rank analysis; same rank for all effects

  * **C** : reduced rank analysis; different ranks

  * **D** : full rank analysis for a model with correlated direct and maternal genetic effects (using Legendre polynomials as basis functions)
